FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Horace Sheffield Files for Congress in the 13th”

(04/22/14, Detroit, MI) -

This morning Horace Sheffield filed over 2,000 petitions to place his name on the ballot as a candidate for the United States House of Representative in the 13th District.

Horace Sheffield, whose campaign theme is “We Can Do Better” is a former elected member of the Detroit Board of Education, has served as a community liaison for Mayor Edward I. Koch, of New York, NY, as a Neighbor City Hall Manager in the administration of former Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer, and also served for several years as a community liaison in the office of former US Congressman Charles C. Diggs, formerly of the 13th District.

After filing this morning Horace Sheffield commented “I filed as a candidate who is concerned about and will be an unrelenting voice for this district’s working poor, that is, those people who get up and go to work every day and still struggle to survive financially in an economy that has seen the unparalleled accumulation of wealth while at the same time experience a shrinking of the middle class. I say it is “OUR MONEY SPEND IT ON US”. While I support a strong and safe Israel, peace in the Middle East, and fighting terrorist cells in Afghanistan, I also contend that we should spend just as much federal money in domestic aids in Detroit, in Inkster and Ecorse, and in Westland to support our failing schools, and to rebuild those communities and roads not ravished by war but by neglect and domestic policy”.
